ICHABOD CRANE
Richard Davis created a clay sculpture of Ichabod Crane, the central character in Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in 1951. It was commissioned by Black, Starr & Gorham, a New York City jeweler, as part of their Stonelain Collection under the auspices of the Associated American Artists. The piece was produced in ceramic with a green glaze; it is 9 inches high with a base 6 x 6 inches. It was sold for $15 through their Gift Department and elsewhere.
